Beykoz University will host the “Green Diplomacy Forum” on December 2, 2025, bringing together national and international representatives. The forum, which will take place at the Kavacık School of Higher Education Campus Conference Hall, will consist of three sessions focusing on various dimensions of diplomacy, sustainability, volunteerism, youth participation, and ecological policies.
The first session will be organized by FICAC under the title “Sustainability and Diplomacy.” Moderated by Prof. Dr. Elif Vatanoğlu Lutz, Faculty Member at Yeditepe University School of Medicine and Founder of the Oxytocin Medicine and Art Platform, this panel will address topics such as the role of sustainability in modern diplomacy, the impact of youth on diplomatic practices, gender equality, and the contribution of consulates to global challenges. Speakers will include Nikos Margarapoulos, President of FICAC, Honorary Consul of the Philippines in Thessaloniki, and attorney; former Ambassador to Hungary and Spain Ender Arat; FICAC Vice President, Bangladeshi Honorary Consul to Chile, and businessman Asif Chawdori; Dean and President of the Istanbul Consular Corps and Consul General of Croatia Dr. Ivana Zerec; and Gönül Oray Eken, FICAC Board Member, Honorary Chair of the Women and Diplomacy Committee, and Honorary Consul of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Türkiye.
The second session, organized by TİDER (Basic Needs Association), will be held under the title “Volunteerism and Youth Participation in Civil Society – Food Banking and Green Diplomacy.” Moderated by TİDER Project Manager Melike Çorlak, the panel will explore the link between the food banking model and climate action, the social impact of reducing waste, and the role of youth in creating meaningful change through volunteerism. TİDER General Manager Nil Tibukoğlu will discuss the association’s work and the food banking system, while TİDER Field Coordinator Eren Can Cihan will share his volunteer experience during the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake and the story that led him to join TİDER.
The third and final session of the forum will be hosted by Beykoz University under the title “The EU Green Deal and Turkey's Compliance Strategy” Moderated by Prof. Dr. Aylin Ünver Noi, faculty member at the Beykoz University Faculty of Social Sciences, the panel will feature Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Nas from the Economic Development Foundation and Cem Bico from Heinrich Böll Stiftung Turkey. The speakers will discuss current approaches to ecological policies, transformation processes in Europe, and Türkiye’s position within this framework.
Enriched by the contributions of various institutions throughout the day, the Green Diplomacy Forum aims to bring together new perspectives in the fields of sustainability and diplomacy.
