Khaled Hosseini (Halit Hüseyni) was originally from Tajikistan and was born in Afghanistan on March 4, 1965. His father served as a diplomat in the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while his mother worked as a Persian and History teacher in Kabul. He was in the Department of Biology at Santa Clara University.
