As part of International Women’s Day on March 8, Assist. Prof. Füsun Deniz Özden, a faculty member of the Faculty of Art and Design, will deliver a talk titled “Uncovering Sappho”, focusing on the life, poetry, and literary significance of Sappho, who is regarded as one of the most important poets of Ancient Greece.
The talk will address the historical context of Sappho’s works, the reflections of the female voice and women’s experiences in literature, and their influence on today’s cultural and artistic world. Participants will have the opportunity to explore this powerful female figure from Ancient Greece from different perspectives.
Open to everyone, the event aims to highlight the contributions of women to the history of art, literature, and thought as part of the International Women’s Day events.
The event will be held in Turkish.
