2021-2022 Academic Year Fall Semester Announcement

Dear Students,

In order to continue our education and training processes face to face and in a healthy way, the following decisions have been taken by our university administration for the Fall Semester of the 2021-2022 Academic Year.

Education-Training

  1. 2021-2022 Fall Semester will start face-to-face on October 18, 2021.
  2. In all our programs, education and training have been planned to be carried out using face-to-face, hybrid (some courses will be fully online), blended (face-to-face and online), and reduced blended education models. The aim of this planning is to reduce the number of students in the classrooms to the extent that social distance is maintained and to ensure that face-to-face education is sustainable.

Online courses will be conducted via "Zoom". In addition, these courses will be supported with asynchronous materials that provide enriched course content (lecture notes, audio presentations, powerpoints, videos, articles, podcasts, pdf resources, etc.) through our university's distance education platform "OnlineBeykoz".

  1. Courses in the English Preparatory Program will be conducted entirely face-to-face. Lesson programs will be prepared as morning and afternoon groups. However, in cases where distance education is required, our classes will be available on the OnlineBeykoz education platform and teaching will be provided acording to the face to face lesson program without any change.
  2. The duration of the face-to-face lessons will be 40 minutes, with 20 minutes between lessons.
  3. Mandatory parts of applied courses will be held face to face.
  4. In formal programs, midterm and final exams will be held face-to-face while other assessment and evaluation activities (quiz, presentation, etc.) can be conducted online. The midterm exams of the programs, all of which are offered through distance education, will be held online, and the final exams will be held face-to-face.
  5. Attendance to face-to-face and online classes will be required.
  6. Academic Counseling, Psychological Guidance and Counseling services will be carried out online, except for mandatory cases.

Entrance to the Campuses and Covid-19 Security Measures

  1. HES code will be requested from all our academic and administrative staff, students and visitors at the entrance to our campuses. As of October 18, 2021, automatic HES inquiries will be made through student and personnel ID cards at turnstiles in order to speed up the entrance of our students and staff to the campuses. If the HES code query is “Risk-Free”, it will be possible to enter from the turnstile. For this reason, our students are required to report their indefinite HES codes to our university through their OIS accounts.
  2. The cards of newly registered students and students who have not received their cards yet will be delivered to them at their first entrance to the campuses of our university. You can find the campus of your faculty/school at https://www.beykoz.edu.tr/icerik/2205-contactaccess-to-campuses. Students who have lost their identity cards should apply to the relevant faculty and school secretaries and request a new identity card. You can find the contact information of your faculty secretary at https://www.beykoz.edu.tr/icerik/3316-faculty-secretariats.
  3. It is compulsory for our students and staff to wear masks to cover their mouth and nose in all education-training areas like classrooms, laboratories, libraries, etc. and other indoor and outdoor areas.
  4. Block classes will not be held. If possible, the windows and doors of the classrooms will be kept open for effective ventilation, and the classrooms, laboratories, etc. will be ventilated and disinfected between classes.
  5. A seating and usage arrangement will be provided in classrooms, offices and common areas so that physical distance is maintained between people.
  6. Common areas within our campuses will be disinfected regularly, special attention will be paid to the cleanliness of areas where more than one person comes into contact, such as table surfaces and door handles, and disinfectants will be placed in common areas to ensure hand hygiene.
  7. Our staff and students are obliged to comply with all existing and posted warnings within the framework of Covid-19 measures in our campuses. "Academic Unit Covid-19 Responsible Person" and "Building Unit Covid-19 Responsible Person" have been determined for all our campuses and they will monitor compliance with the rules in the campuses.
  8. It is recommended that our students do not stay in the campuses during the hours when they do not have any classes and activities.

In case of COVID-19 Positive Case Detection in Our Campuses

If a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 is detected among our academic/administrative staff and our students;

  1. Contacts and close contacts will be identified and reported to the Health Unit, and the measures specified in the Higher Education Council's “2021 Application Guide for Campus Environments” will be taken.
  2. In case of closure due to compulsory reasons on campus and university basis, education and training will continue online during the closure period.

We missed you so much, see you on October 18, stay healthy.

Best Regards,

Beykoz University Rectorate
