(RE) Defining Institutional Effectiveness: Agility & Adaptability Academic Management Competency

Macmillan Education,- one of the solution partners of Beykoz University School of Foreign Languages- organized a seminar with EAQUALS, UES-Unlimited Educational Services and Özyeğin University on 1-2 December 2023. (Re)Defining Institutional Effectiveness within the Academic Management Competence: Agility and Adaptability, was held at Dedeman Bostancı Istanbul Hotel with the participation of PDU members and/or administrators from higher education institutions in Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Representing Beykoz University, the SFL Director Pınar Pamuk and PDU (Professional Development Unit) member Aisulu Doszhanova took part in the event.

The presentations at the seminar were given by Özyeğin University SFL Director Nergis Uyan, and Unit Leaders Selen Şirin Dülger, Serkan Aras and Sultan Zeydan of the same university.

Content of the Seminar

Educational administrators play an important role in creating this culture by utilizing a variety of resources. EAQUALS' Academic Management Competency Framework (AMCF) is a valuable resource that administrators can use to promote teacher development in their institutions. Özyeğin University School of Foreign Languages, in collaboration with EAQUALS and Macmillan Education, aims to support school administrators in their own professional development, recognizing the crucial role of administrators in teacher.

With this regard, a training program entitled 'Implementation of the EAQUALS Academic Management Competency Framework (AMCF) in Turkish Universities' was organized. Strategic Professional Development for Managers was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of strategies for staff assessment and development in higher education institutions. Participants discussed techniques for identifying staff needs, conducting observations, providing feedback, delivering training and development programs, coaching and mentoring employees, and promoting career development, and examined the current practices of participating schools.
