The Opening Lecture of the 2025–2026 Academic Year at Beykoz University was held on September 22, 2025, at the Conference Hall of the Kavacık Vocational Schools Campus.
The program began with a speech by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Beykoz University, Ruhi Engin Özmen. In his opening remarks, Özmen stated that the new academic term would mark an exciting beginning for students, emphasizing that the opportunities offered by Beykoz University create significant prospects for both academic and personal development.
Following this, a plaque of appreciation was presented to our Advisory Board Member, Tarkan Ersubaşı, in recognition of his contributions to the university and education. As Ersubaşı could not attend the ceremony due to travel, the plaque was received on his behalf by Procat CEO Mustafa Murat Gül.
The program continued with an opening address by Rector Prof. Dr. Burak Küntay, who highlighted the university’s vision and its vital role in preparing students for the future.
The Opening Lecture was delivered by one of Turkey’s leading political scientists, internationally renowned Emeritus Prof. Dr. İlter Turan. With an academic career spanning many years and experience at universities both in Turkey and abroad, Prof. Dr. Turan shared his insights and reflections with students and faculty members.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Turan discussed university models and the fundamental functions of universities, while also emphasizing the importance of scientific creativity. He noted, “Science can also guide you in your daily life. Even if your goals are professional, it is always possible to benefit from a scientific approach.” He further underlined the unique advantages of Beykoz University, saying, “Beykoz University is a knowledge oasis that is not overcrowded, and this actually makes things easier for you.”
The lecture was followed with great interest by students from all faculties and vocational schools, as well as by the academic and administrative staff.
