Aral Soylu, a student of the Digital Game Design Program at the Faculty of Art and Design at Beykoz University, together with Mehmet Nihat Can Kandemir, a fourth-year student of Biomedical Engineering at Pamukkale University (PAÜ) Faculty of Technology, earned the TÜBİTAK Seal of Excellence for their project titled “Infection Biosensor,” developed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Koluman and led by Tunç Eray Bayram.
The project, deemed worthy of investment support by TÜBİTAK, stands out with its integration of speed, portability, and digitalization in health technologies. The developed biosensor enables infection detection within minutes not only in laboratory environments but also in hospitals, home use, veterinary applications, and food safety processes. The sensor rapidly analyzes samples taken from blood, fluids, or surfaces, playing a critical role in early intervention.
One of the project’s most innovative features is its smart mobile application, which works in integration with the device. The data collected by the biosensor is instantly transferred to the mobile application via Bluetooth or similar wireless technologies. Users can view the results through clear and understandable graphs and easily track infection history or environmental hygiene through digital archiving of past measurements.
With its compact, practical, and user-friendly design, the technology simplifies complex laboratory processes and focuses on preventing the spread of infections and accelerating treatment procedures. Awarded the TÜBİTAK Seal of Excellence, the project is poised to open a new era in the protection of both human and animal health. The involvement of Beykoz University student Aral Soylu in this achievement highlights the university’s strong commitment to interdisciplinary production and innovation.
We congratulate the students and wish them continued success.
