Organized by the Beykoz University Social Contribution Coordinatorship within the scope of March 8 International Women’s Day, the panel titled “Recognizing Silent Violence: Awareness of Discourse and Behavior in Professional Life” was held on March 5, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Kavacık Schools of Higher Education Campus. The opening speeches were delivered by Assist. Prof. Miray Ürkmezer, faculty member at Beykoz Logistics Vocational School, and Prof. Dr. Pınar Seden Meral, Coordinator of Social Contribution.
During the panel, forms of violence that emerge through discourse and behaviors in professional life were discussed. Evaluations from the perspectives of law, public administration, the private sector, and academia provided a multidimensional view of the issue.
The speakers of the event included Assist. Prof. Şeyma Tunçay, faculty member at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Beykoz University; Attorney Nurgül Öztürk İpek from RNS Law & Consultancy; Gülçin Üçer, Director of Provincial Administrative Affairs at the Istanbul Governorship; and Emine Öztürk, KADES representative and Human Resources and Sustainability Director at BigChefs.
The panel addressed the definition of silent violence, how it manifests in professional life, its effects on individuals and institutions, and the importance of raising awareness on the issue. The speakers emphasized the responsibility of institutions to create inclusive and safe working environments and shared their evaluations on the impact of discourse and behavior in professional relationships.
