The book titled “Collective Wisdom in Rural Areas: The Search for Development in Mesudiye-Yeşilce”, edited by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Baki Aksu, has been published.
Offering an academic and field-based perspective on rural development, the work addresses local development dynamics in a multidimensional manner through studies carried out in the Yeşilce region of Mesudiye district in Ordu. The book examines in detail the importance of stakeholder participation, the collective wisdom approach, and sustainable development processes.
Conducted under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Baki Aksu, and with contributions from faculty members of Beykoz University and Ordu University, the book is one of the outputs of the project titled “The Role of Tourism in Rural Development and the Perspectives of Local People and Local Authorities on Tourism: The Case of Mesudiye Yeşilce.” The work emphasizes that rural development should be addressed not only from an economic perspective but also through its social and cultural dimensions. This approach aligns with contemporary literature highlighting that development in rural areas should be shaped on the basis of collaboration and participation.
Serving as a valuable resource for academics, local administrators, and policymakers, the book also offers guiding recommendations for practices to be implemented in rural areas.
