48-Hour Animation Marathon Completed at Beykoz University

The “ANIJAM” event, organized by the Department of Cartoon and Animation within the Faculty of Arts and Design at Beykoz University, was held between 10–12 April 2026 at the Kavacık Schools of Higher Education Campus.

During the three-day event, students came together for an intensive 48-hour production marathon, developing animation projects both in teams and individually. Participants had the opportunity to experience idea development, production, and presentation processes within a limited timeframe.

A total of 47 students from 9 different universities, including Istanbul Technical University, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, and Istanbul University, participated in ANIJAM. The event brought together not only students from Cartoon and Animation programs but also participants from various disciplines such as graphic design, digital game design, and industrial design.

Throughout the event, Beykoz University faculty members Assist. Prof. Banu Burçin Öztunç, Assist. Prof. Orkun Yöntem, Dr. Ebru Özyurt, and Res. Assist. Aylin Berna Zamandar Başoğlu, along with Assist. Prof. Gökhan Aydın from Marmara University, served as mentors, providing guidance and feedback during the animation production process.

On the second day of the program, character creator Ali Yağız Kanı met with participants and shared his experiences regarding the character design process. The talk was also attended by high school students who were not part of ANIJAM teams or had not yet engaged in animation production.

At the end of the competition, Hafsa Nadire Gül, a 2nd-year student of the Cartoon and Animation Program at Beykoz University, won first place with her animation titled “Hazzın Limiti.”

The event provided participants with an applied learning environment in animation while enabling students from different disciplines to produce work within a short timeframe. ANIJAM is planned to continue in the coming years with broader participation.

We would like to thank all participants and congratulate our first-place winner, Hafsa Nadire Gül.
