The event titled “Family Year Summit 2026: Rethinking the Family in the Digital Age,” organized through the collaboration of Beykoz Üniversitesi and Beykoz Sosyal Hizmetler Merkezi Müdürlüğü, was held at the Kavacık Vocational School Campus Conference Hall.
During the summit, the effects of digitalization on family structure were discussed from various perspectives, including family communication, digital parenting, the impact on children and young people, and combating addiction, with contributions from expert speakers in their fields.
The first session, titled “The Changing World and Digitalization: Redefining the Family,” was moderated by Prof. Dr. Pınar Kurt Combil. In the session, Assist. Prof. Zeynep Tikici delivered a presentation titled “Parenting in the Digital Age: New Roles and Boundaries,” while Fatma Enise Ermiş shared insights on “Child Protection in the Digital Age: Risks and Interventions from a Social Services Perspective.”
The second session, titled “Family in the Age of Addiction: Digital Risks and Protective Approaches,” was moderated by Assist. Prof. Serap Bozkurt. During the session, Prof. Dr. Pınar Kurt Combil presented “How Does Addiction Begin in the Brain? Neural Mechanisms and Processes,” Res. Assist. Muhammet Yıldız discussed “Digital Game Addiction,” and Psychologist Semanur Dağcı delivered a presentation titled “Prevention, Intervention, and Social Adaptation in Combating Addiction.”
