As part of the Architectural Design 1 (MTS1) course, a presentation titled "Beykoz Gasworks" was delivered by Burcu Özgüven, who examined the Beykoz Gasworks from the perspectives of industrial heritage and adaptive reuse.
The presentation explored industrial heritage, urban memory, adaptive reuse, and transformation processes through the example of the Beykoz Gasworks. Different approaches and case studies were discussed to illustrate how the historical and spatial values of such structures can be preserved while responding to contemporary needs.
Participants examined the importance of preserving industrial heritage in sustaining urban identity and cultural continuity, while also reviewing examples of how existing structures can be revitalized through new functions. The presentation, held within the scope of the 07 Petroleum Module of the Architectural Design 1 course, contributed to enhancing students' knowledge and awareness of industrial heritage conservation and adaptive reuse.
