International Trade and Finance (English)

Welcome to the International Trade and Finance (English) Program!

Our program is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in companies engaged in export and import activities, finance, banking, or multinational corporations; in banks’ foreign trade departments; customs consultancy firms; logistics companies; the European Union representation in Turkey; the Ministry of Trade; and other public institutions, while also aiming to understand the dynamics of international markets. We aim to provide our students with a strong academic foundation, a global vision, and the practical skills necessary to succeed in the world of international trade and finance.


Our Mission

The mission of the International Trade and Finance (English) program is to educate individuals who possess ethical values, can think with a global perspective, have strong analytical skills, and can integrate technological developments into their decision-making processes. Our goal is to train professionals and researchers who can critically assess global economic issues and develop innovative financial and trade strategies.

Our Vision

The vision of our program is to be a globally recognized academic program that combines a liberal and innovative approach to education with practical applications, cultivating individuals who can competently and confidently respond to the evolving needs of international trade and finance markets.


Scope of the International Trade and Finance (English) Program

Our curriculum covers the core areas of international trade, economics, and finance, and offers practical content enriched with interdisciplinary skills. Below are some key areas and sample course topics:

The International Trade and Finance (English) program focuses on five main subfields:

  • International Trade: Covers topics such as international trade theories, trade policies, regional trade agreements, and foreign trade regulations.
  • International Finance: Includes areas such as global financial markets, exchange rate systems, international capital flows, and financial strategies of multinational corporations.
  • Economics and Economic Policy: Aims to analyze micro and macroeconomics, development economics, monetary and fiscal policies, and the global economic system.
  • Business and Management: Provides practical knowledge and skills related to the business world, including strategic management, financial management, entrepreneurship, logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Focuses on supply chain management, international logistics strategies, transportation and distribution systems, inventory management, and logistics technologies. This field plays a fundamental role in understanding the physical operations of global trade.

Additionally, our program offers an interdisciplinary learning experience by allowing students to take elective courses from other departments according to their interests.

Program Learning Outcomes

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) describe the knowledge, skills, and competencies that students are expected to possess upon successfully completing the program. The PLOs defined for this program are as follows:

  • Develop analytical thinking, problem-solving skills in organizational matters, time management, self-discipline, and communication skills.

  • Acquire and apply the fundamental knowledge, concepts, and theories required in the field of international trade.

  • Possess essential knowledge not only in core business and international trade subjects but also in leadership, behavioral sciences, communication, and entrepreneurship; as well as in service courses such as mathematics, statistics, law, operations research, computing, and management information systems.

  • Demonstrate awareness of ethics and social responsibility.

  • Communicate knowledge systematically and effectively to both field-related and non-field audiences using quantitative and qualitative data, as well as written, oral, and visual communication tools.

  • Critically evaluate existing norms and standards in responsibilities undertaken.

  • Develop strategic, innovative, and entrepreneurial ideas.

  • Acquire competencies to manage change effectively.

  • Demonstrate personal and social development with a lifelong learning mindset.

  • Follow developments in advanced technologies and digital transformation.

  • Possess cultural awareness and convey it to both field-related and non-field audiences.

  • Be conscious of civic competencies and responsibilities.

  • Achieve proficiency in communicating in a foreign language (English) at a level defined as at least B1 in the European Language Portfolio (B2/B2+ level for programs taught in English).


Program Educational Objectives

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) describe the goals that graduates are expected to achieve in their professional and/or academic careers several years after completing the program. The PEOs defined for this program are as follows:

  • Possess the necessary knowledge in key functions of international trade, including foreign trade, logistics, economics, finance, business, marketing, sales management, procurement, and quantitative methods.

  • Acquire essential knowledge not only in core international trade subjects but also in leadership, behavioral sciences, communication, and entrepreneurship; as well as in service courses such as mathematics, statistics, law, operations research, computing, and management information systems.

  • Develop the ability to utilize modern information technologies and tools in professional life, demonstrate a willingness for lifelong learning, openness to innovation, and adaptability to change.

  • Develop analytical thinking, problem-solving skills in organizational matters, time management, self-discipline, and communication skills.

  • Enhance the ability to solve problems and make decisions while being aware of ethical values and social responsibility.

  • Achieve English proficiency sufficient to utilize English-language resources in international trade, communicate effectively with foreign colleagues, and engage in professional discussions.


Our Graduates

Our program has been graduating students since the 2022–2023 academic year. Our university supports students in planning their careers through the Career Planning course offered in the first year, Career Days that bring together representatives from various sectors and our alumni, and the activities of the Career Center.

Practical Training Process

During their education, our students have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired through the Workplace Internship in their final year. A significant portion of our graduates receive job offers from the institutions where they complete their internships, and all of them report that this experience positively impacts both their personal development and their job search process.


Education in English

The medium of instruction in our program is English. Students who do not meet the English proficiency requirement attend a one-year English Preparatory Program before entering the program. Following this preparatory training, delivered by an experienced and expert teaching staff, students take all courses in English and gain a comprehensive understanding of both the institutional and practical framework in the field of International Trade and Finance.

For students who wish to learn a foreign language other than English, elective courses in additional languages are offered.

Double Major and Minor Opportunities

Within the framework of bilateral agreements, our students have the opportunity to pursue a double major or minor with different departments of the university.


Research Opportunities

Students interested in academic research can participate in our faculty members’ research projects either voluntarily or with compensation, or apply for TÜBİTAK grants under the supervision of faculty members.


Student Clubs

Our university hosts dozens of student clubs. The International Trade Club, established by students of our program, provides opportunities for socializing, taking initiative, and showcasing creativity.


Events

Through conferences, seminars, panels, industry meetings, technical visits, and guest lectures hosted by our program, students gain insights and career opportunities in areas such as contemporary business practices, entrepreneurship, management, start-ups, trade, finance, and careers. Additionally, departmental advisory board meetings, which include representatives from academia, industry, and alumni, are organized to ensure that the program remains current and active at all times.
