Beykoz University’s Bachelor’s Program in Management Information Systems is offered in English within the Faculty of Business and Administrative Sciences.
The program aims to educate students as versatile professionals required by the digitalizing business world by bringing together management sciences, information technologies, and data analytics.
Management Information Systems is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on solving the business problems faced by organizations through technology and data. While students acquire foundational
knowledge in management, economics, marketing, statistics, strategic management, and entrepreneurship, they also gain the competence to evaluate business processes from an information systems perspective. At the same time, students develop competencies in programming, database management, systems analysis and design, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and information
systems project management; they also gain a foundational perspective on business intelligence, enterprise information systems, and information security practices.
The main objective of the program is to prepare qualified professionals in business analytics and information systems who can analyze business processes, identify organizations’ technology needs,
use data effectively in managerial decision-making, communicate effectively between business units and technology teams, and demonstrate analytical thinking and problem-solving competencies.
1. Dual Competence in Management and Technology
The Management Information Systems Program does not offer education solely in software or solely in business. Instead, it enables students both to understand how an organization operates and to
design and evaluate technological solutions that improve business processes. This integrated structure contributes to the development of graduates as professionals who can build bridges between the business world and the information technology world.
2. Education Focused on Current Digital Competencies
The program is structured to integrate compulsory and elective courses with program learning outcomes in current areas such as data-driven decision-making, the use of artificial intelligence in
business, data mining, decision support systems, digital transformation, e-commerce, information security, and information systems project management. The aim is not only for students to use specific technologies, but also to evaluate emerging technologies, select solutions appropriate to business needs, and analyze the ethical, legal, and social implications of technology.
3. Practice- and Project-Oriented Learning
Courses are designed to support theoretical knowledge with applied work, systems design, and project management processes. Through courses such as Systems Analysis and Design, Decision
Support Systems, and Information Systems Project Management, students are expected to gain the ability to analyze information system needs, contribute to systems design and project management
processes, adapt data analytics and decision support systems to managerial problems, and communicate technical and managerial knowledge effectively to different stakeholders.
4. The 7+1 Applied Education Model
Within Beykoz University’s practice-oriented education approach, students spend one semester of their undergraduate education in a real work environment through the Workplace Professional
Training course, which is offered in the eighth semester and carries 22 ECTS credits. In this way, students have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a real workplace, become familiar with sector expectations, develop a professional network, and gain work experience before graduation.
5. Practical, Laboratory, Project, and Sector Opportunities Offered During the Education Process
Students support their applied work in programming, data analysis, and databases through computer laboratories and digital learning opportunities. This enables them to transform theoretical knowledge into practice, interpret data, and gain experience in developing technology-based solutions for the needs of businesses.
6. B’Partners and Interaction with the Sector
Through B’Partners, Beykoz University’s structure for managing institutional collaborations, students are supported in meeting sector representatives, becoming familiar with current business problems, and participating in activities based on academy-sector interaction. Practices such as sector talks, case studies, company visits, and activities based on real business problems are intended to help students become acquainted with the business world during their education.
7. International Mobility
Students can benefit from Erasmus+ study and internship mobility opportunities to spend part of their education abroad or gain internship experience in an international organization. This experience
contributes especially to preparing students in the English-medium program for international work environments.
8. Post-Graduation Career Fields and Employment Opportunities
Graduates of Management Information Systems have the opportunity to work in almost every sector where information technologies are used. Graduates can build careers as professionals who analyze organizations’ business needs, transform data into decision-making processes, and take part in the development and implementation of digital solutions.
The main career fields include:
Graduates may work in technology companies, consulting firms, banks and other financial institutions, e-commerce companies, digital platforms, manufacturing organizations, retail companies, logistics enterprises, healthcare institutions, and public institutions. Graduates who aim for an academic career may continue to master’s and doctoral programs in management information systems, informatics, business administration, data analytics, information technologies, digital transformation, and related fields.
Digital transformation now affects not only technology companies but all sectors, including finance, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, retail, education, and public services. Organizations need employees who understand how technology creates value for business, as much as they need professionals who know technology itself. Graduates of Management Information Systems have a distinctive profile that responds to this need. Graduates learn not only how to use a system, but also how to determine which system is needed, align that system with business processes, and use the data produced by the system in managerial decision-making.
