Competency Development Program

Today, the business world expects university graduates to enter business life equipped with certain critical competencies as well as sufficient theoretical knowledge in their fields. The business world is also aware that some of the competencies that have been valuable throughout history have changed with the rapid transformation from an industrial production model to a technology-based and interconnected globalized knowledge economy, and now expects the education system to transform accordingly.

With a will to meet this need, our university introduced the Competency Development Program in all its undergraduate and associate degree departments in 2017. The goal is to ensure that our students, in addition to their field knowledge, graduate with the following 14 basic and managerial competencies much required by the 21^st century business world.

2. Leadership and Teamwork

3. Ethics and Social Responsibility

4. Written and Verbal Communication and Interaction

5. Critical Thinking, Creative and Innovative Thinking

6. Developing a Strategic and Entrepreneurial Understanding

7. Taking Responsibility and Making Independent Decisions

8. Ability to Manage Change

9. Learning to Learn, Personal and Social Development

10. Developing a Global Perspective

11. Ability to Use Technology and Digital Competence

12. Cultural Awareness and Expression

13. Social and Civic Competence

14. Communication in a Foreign Language

We use a checklist to measure the 14 competency levels that we have identified when our students register at our university. Completed specially for each student after this procedure, the "Competency Level Report - 1" is then shared our student and his advisor. In the light of this report, our students are able to determine the courses required for the competencies they need to develop and then enjoy significant progress towards their competencies thanks to these courses they take until their graduation. After all that, we do the checklist again for all our students who are about to graduate so that we can document their progress with a "Competence Level Report - 2", and we provide our students with a Certificate of Competency too along with their diplomas. As a result, our students enter the business world with the critical basic and managerial competencies they have acquired during their education life, as well as their field knowledge, and they start their careers one step ahead.
