Muteferriqa | Muteferriqa consists of two main collections: Periodicals and Books. Periodicals Collection: Approximately 1,500 titles, 96,000 issues, 1 million pages. Book Collection: Nearly 35,000 books, approximately 6 million pages. Both full text and metadata are searchable in Arabic and Latin-based alphabets. For example, users can search for the keyword “statue” by typing “statue” in English, “statue” in Turkish, or “هيكل” in Ottoman Turkish. Images from both collections can be queried and viewed independently. Users can search images using image descriptions of their content or image category tags; they can also discover new images based on image similarity. Latin-letter Turkish and English language support makes the treasure trove of Ottoman printed sources accessible to those who cannot read old-letter texts and those who do not speak Turkish at all. You can search in the language of your choice and access it on and off campus as you wish. |
