Within the framework of the Cittaslow Islands management plan, an introductory and informational meeting was held at Büyükada Beltur Hotel under the motto “A Future Vision for the Islands.”
Representing our university, Assist. Prof. Serap Nazır, Head of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, attended the meeting, where a roadmap was developed for the Islands, which are candidates for the Cittaslow title, focusing on the preservation of natural, cultural, and social values, strengthening the volunteer network, promoting education and awareness, and sustainably maintaining local identity. The project emphasizes an approach that moves toward tranquility rather than haste, calmness rather than noise, and harmony rather than chaos.
Our faculty members from the Faculty of Art and Design, who actively participate in the “Cittaslow Islands” process, include Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çeyiz Makal Fairclough, Head of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Assist. Prof. Serap Nazır, Lecturer Zehra Kaya, and Assist. Prof. Füsun Deniz Özden, who all contribute to the project.
