At Beykoz University, the governance model has been structured within the framework of the Beykoz University Integrated Governance Framework (BÜYÇ), which has been designed in alignment with international management system standards (ISO, COSO, EUA, EFQM) as well as the institutional and program accreditation criteria of the Higher Education Quality Council of Türkiye (YÖKAK).
The BÜYÇ aims to enhance the University’s effectiveness and accountability by grounding its approach in the principles of institutional quality assurance and sustainability. The framework comprises the following core governance components:
- Strategic Planning: Defining, implementing, and monitoring institutional objectives.
- Leadership Approach: Translating the institutional vision into practice through effective leadership, ensuring stakeholder engagement, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Document Management: Managing information and documents in an organized, accessible, and secure manner.
- Process Management: Conducting university activities through clearly defined, measurable, and continuously improvable processes.
- Risk Management: Identifying, analyzing, and controlling potential risks related to institutional objectives.
- Institutional Performance Management: Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting the level of achievement of strategic goals.
Within the scope of the BÜYÇ, its core elements include document management, process management, risk management, and institutional performance management, all of which are aligned with the institutional strategic plan and supported by effective leadership practices.
BÜYÇ is an integrated governance model developed to align institutional governance and quality assurance processes with international standards. This framework is grounded in the principle of continuous improvement, which constitutes a core element of both ISO management system standards and the accreditation criteria of the Higher Education Quality Council of Türkiye (YÖKAK).
The PDCA cycle (Plan–Do–Check–Act)—a critical component of the ISO and YÖKAK approaches—lies at the heart of the operational logic of the BUIGF. This cycle provides a systematic method for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of institutional processes:
- Plan: Designing processes and allocating resources in line with strategic objectives.
- Do: Effectively implementing the defined processes.
- Check: Measuring, monitoring, and evaluating process performance.
- Act: Correcting identified deviations and taking necessary actions to ensure continuous improvement.
By integrating this cycle with its governance components, the BUIGF aims to establish a sustainable quality culture across the domains of strategic planning, leadership approach, document management, process management, risk management, and institutional performance management.
