Prof. Dr. Baki Aksu

Born in 1958 in the Mesudiye district of Ordu, Prof. Dr. Baki Aksu completed his primary and secondary education in Yeşilyurt and Yeşilce; He completed his high school education in Istanbul Maritime and Fisheries Vocational High School and his bachelor education in Anadolu University in 1988. After graduating from Istanbul University with a master’s degree on “Human Resources Management” in 1992, Aksu received his doctorate in “International Business Administration” at Istanbul University in 1997. He became "assistant professor" in February 2003, "assistant professor" in the field of "Management and Strategy" in March 2013 and "professor" in May 2018.

Aksu, who has given many courses in the field of Business Management, has been a manager at various levels for many years. Between 1989-2003, he worked as the director of the Istanbul University Faculty of Forestry, Forest Products Integrated Facilities, and between 2003-2004 he worked as the Deputy Director of Ordu University Mesudiye Vocational School and between 2004-2008 he worked as the Director of Mesudiye Vocational School. Since 2008, he has worked in Beykoz Logistics Vocational School as program and department head, assistant manager, secretary of school, deputy director. Since 2016, Prof. Dr. Baki Aksu has served as the Director of Beykoz Logistics Vocational School within the body of Beykoz University. Aksu, who left this position as of June 22, 2018, was appointed as the Vice Rector of Beykoz University on the same date.

Aksu, who has more than 50 scientific articles, has successfully worked as a coordinator, assistant coordinator and assistant researcher in 6 national and international projects.

Prof. Dr. Baki Aksu also served as the chairman of the board of directors and memberships of the non-governmental organizations. Board memberships in some institutions still continue.

 


Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kuru

Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kuru was born in 1953. He graduated from Ankara Science High School in 1970. He received his bachelor's degree from Istanbul Technical University in 1974, his master's degree from Boğaziçi University in 1977, and his doctorate from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in the USA in 1981.

Prof. Kuru started his academic career at Boğaziçi University in 1981, became an associate professor in 1985 and a professor in 1990. He took part in the founding staff of Boğaziçi University Computer Engineering Department and served as the chairman of the department between 1990-2000. Founded Software Engineering Research Center and Artificial Intelligence Research Center at Boğaziçi University, numerous EU (5th and 6th Framework Programs, Erasmus and EUMEDIS programs), NATO (NATO SfS and NATO RTP programs), carried out national projects supported by the EU National Agency, TÜBİTAK, MEB, DPT at international publications supported by World Bank, Ministry of Energy of USA and the Ministry of Justice, developed the DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation) ALL-IN-1 Turkish Spelling Control software. He directed the accreditation process of the Computer Engineering Undergraduate Program ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology).

Prof. Kuru took part in the founding academic staff of Işık University. He served as the advisor to the rector at this university where he served in 2000-2008, founded the Department of Computer Engineering and the Informatics Research Center, was the head of the department and the center, was the director of many EU-funded projects, organized international summer schools and developed and managed systems such as Campus ONLINE, Course ONLINE, Access ONLINE that constitute the information infrastructure of Işık University.

Between 2008-2009, Prof. Kuru served as Vice Rector for the Research and International Relations and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Bahçeşehir University. He led the institutional evaluation of Bahçeşehir University's EUA (European University Association), started the COOP (Cooperative Education) program, carried out the establishment of the research fund and strengthening the research, contributing to the globalization of the university and the strengthening of the international student recruitment network.

Prof. Kuru served as the Founding Rector of Toros University in 2009-2011. He worked on preparing the university application files and managing the establishment process, preparing physical facilities, establishing faculties and departments, establishing academic and administrative staff, establishing regulations, directives and procedures, preparing departments' programs and taking them into training. Until 2016, he was on the Board of Trustees of Toros University.

Prof. Kuru worked as the Founding Vice Rector and founding Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Istanbul Kemerburgaz University between 2011-2015. Preparing the physical facilities of the university, establishing faculties and departments, creating academic and administrative staff, establishing regulations, directives and procedures, creating COOP program, establishing international relations and international student recruitment network, establishing the research infrastructure and managing the research fund, managed the university's Bologna process and contributed the ECTS studies, directed the creation of academic staff of engineering and architecture departments, preparation of their programs and training.

Prof. Kuru joined Beykoz University in 2018 as the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. He carried out the works of establishing engineering and architecture departments, forming academic staff and training, contributing to the establishment of regulations, instructions and procedures of the university. He launched the Project-Based Learning (PBL) Model at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. He managed the processes of opening new graduate programs and establishing regulations and procedures for postgraduate education by undertaking the Graduate Programs Institute Directorate as well as being the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture.

Prof. Kuru who is a member of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and IEEE CS (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society) is co-founder of Turkey Informatics Foundation (TBV), Turkey Intelligence Foundation (TZV), CMU Alumni Association of Turkey. Prof. Kuru served on many committees, including YÖK National Informatics Committee member, YÖK National Science and Technology Committee member, UNESCO National Informatics Committee member, EU EUMEDIS Steering Committee member. He has over 200 scientific publications, 100 of which are international publications. Kuru has directed 50 doctoral and master's theses, and has organized 4 international summer schools supported by the EU, including many conference chairs including ISCIS, Bilisim Zirvesi, TAINN, EuroMed conferences. Prof. Kuru conducted the execution of more than 50 scientific projects, 17 of which were EU projects, 3 of which were NATO projects, and he managed the development of 15 software products. Prof. Kuru initiated the development of the TBV IT Professional Code. Prof. Kuru received the CMU Fellow award.

Prof. Kuru currently serves as the Vice Rector responsible for research and development, international relations, postgraduate education and academic evaluation, as well as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture.


Prof. Dr. Burak Küntay

Having acquired his undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations at Florida Atlantic University, Prof. Burak Küntay received his master's degree in International Relations at the same university. He then went on to do his PhD in Political Science and International Relations at Yeditepe University.

His academic studies have generally focused on the US state system, US foreign policy, Turkish political history and the Middle East. After completing his internship with US Senator Bill Nelson, he served on the Board of Trustees of Florida Atlantic University and also as a member of the Foundation Board Member at the same university.

Having started his academic career at Yeditepe University, Prof. Küntay served as the Chairperson of the School of Government and Leadership in addition to being the Founding President of the Centre for American Studies at Bahçeşehir University. He served as the Director of the Institute of Social Sciences at Bahçeşehir University for many years, and after that worked as the Director of the Graduate School of Education and was an Advisor to the Rector of the university. Prof. Küntay still teaches doctorate degree courses at the National Defense University.

Prof. Küntay received the 18th International Gusi Peace Prize, held in the Philippines in 2019. Currently serving as the Vice Rector, Prof. Küntay is the Acting Director of the Institute of Graduate Programs and is among the faculty members of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
