The first-year students of the Maritime and Port Management Program at Beykoz Vocational School of Logistics, accompanied by our faculty members Assist. Prof. Ahmet Selçuk Başarıcı, Assist. Prof. Mehmet Bilgin Süme, and Lecturer Umut Genç, carried out an educational visit to the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command on Wednesday, 26 November 2025.
The students were welcomed by Rear Admiral Recep Erdinç Yetkin, Colonel Nadire Çerezci Baycan, and the shipyard personnel. Following the reception, a comprehensive presentation was delivered, providing information on the duties and responsibilities of the shipyard. The group then toured various warehouses and maintenance–repair facilities, receiving detailed briefings from the unit supervisors regarding the ongoing operations.
During the visit, the students had the opportunity to explore TCG Akhisar, which is currently undergoing sea trials, allowing them to gain motivation and valuable insight into naval traditions and customs. The program also included an in-depth visit to TCG Savarona, the yacht once used by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as his working space.
