On December 24, 2025, Lect. Umut Genç, a faculty member of Beykoz Logistics Vocational School at Beykoz University, attended the 2nd Green Transformation in Maritime Summit, organized by the Chamber of Shipping (İMEAK DTO) and hosted by Piri Reis University, representing the Maritime and Port Management Program of Beykoz University.
The summit, which focused on sustainability and environmentally friendly practices in the maritime sector, brought together prominent figures including Salih Tan, Director General of Shipyards and Coastal Structures at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure; Mustafa Bankaoğlu, Director General of Coastal Safety; Prof. Dr. Nafiz Arıca, Rector of Piri Reis University; and Başaran Bayrak, Chairman of the Assembly of İMEAK DTO, along with board and branch chairpersons, members of professional committees, representatives of public institutions, industry stakeholders, and academics.
Within the scope of the symposium, topics such as maritime transportation, shipbuilding and ports, alternative energy sources, and green transformation practices were discussed in detail. Presentations delivered by experts in the field emphasized the environmental and economic benefits of climate change mitigation practices in the maritime sector, while also sharing valuable insights on the steps required to advance this transformation process.
