Technical Field Trip to Limaş Port Operations

Students of the Maritime and Port Management Program had the opportunity to observe sectoral practices on-site during a technical field trip to Limaş Port Operations Inc. on April 14, 2026.

The visit began with a presentation introducing the operations of Limaş. During the session, comprehensive theoretical information was provided on the port’s structure, functions, and operational processes.

Following the presentation, students proceeded to the liquid cargo terminal to observe operational processes in the field. Accompanied by Operations and Planning Manager Fatih Başaran and Process Safety Manager Gökhan Kaynak, students were given detailed insights into the terminal structure, the working principles of tank filling facilities, and the processes involved in the safe storage and transfer of products.

As part of the technical visit, information was also shared about fire-fighting systems (foam, water, and emergency response lines) established to mitigate potential risks, emphasizing their critical role in terminal safety. Additionally, the equipment systems that enable ship-to-shore connections were examined, highlighting their importance in ensuring the controlled and safe transfer of liquid cargo.

Through this technical visit, students gained practical insight into the fundamental elements of operational safety and efficiency in liquid cargo transportation.

We would like to thank Limaş Port Operations Inc. for their valuable contributions.
