Organized in collaboration with Beykoz University Faculty of Art and Design and Noah Art & Culture, the exhibition titled “A Place of One’s Own” will meet its audience at Noah Art & Culture between March 28 – April 12, 2026.
Inspired by A Room of One’s Own (1929) by Virginia Woolf, the exhibition focuses on women artists’ spaces of production, intellectual freedom, and creative subjectivity. “A Place of One’s Own” refers not only to a physical space but also to an intellectual, emotional, and historical realm. The exhibition offers a platform of encounter where artists construct their own narratives, demand visibility, and propose alternative historiographies.
The works of ten artists, produced across different disciplines, are presented in a wide range from painting to installation, and from video to photography. Each work reinterprets the concept of “place” through axes such as personal memory, body, home, archive, nature, and public space. In this way, the exhibition opens up a space for reflection where individual and collective experiences intersect.
While raising questions about the representation of women in art history and the conditions of their production, “A Place of One’s Own” also stands as a strong call for solidarity and visibility in contemporary creative practices. The exhibition invites the audience not only to view the works but also to reconsider their own understanding of “place.”
