Research Development Innovation Organizational Structure

Research and Development Coordinatorship

The Research and Development Coordination Office at Beykoz University places importance on establishing an effective organizational structure in order to achieve its strategic goals and objectives in the field of research and development.

At Beykoz University, the Research and Development Coordination Office area was initially organized under the Vice Rector for Research and structured to include the following units:

  • R&D Coordination Office
  • Research and Development Support Commission
  • Graduate Programs Institute
  • Application and Research Centers
  • Erasmus and Mobility Programs Coordinatorship

Organizational Structure of the R&D Coordinatorship

The R&D Coordinatorship is the primary unit that coordinates the university’s research, development, and innovation activities at the institutional level and provides administrative and technical support to researchers and research centers. The Coordination Office establishes support mechanisms for project development, access to funding sources, the establishment of collaborations, and the effective management of research processes.

In the short term, this structure is planned to evolve into an integrated research and innovation ecosystem that includes Project Development Unit, Project Implementation Unit, Incubation Center, and Technology Transfer Office structures. Through this transformation, it is aimed to convert research outputs into economic and societal value.

Organizational Structure of the Research and Development Support Commission

The Research and Development Support Commission is the board responsible for the implementation of research and development incentive mechanisms within the university. The commission is chaired by the R&D Coordinator and consists of members representing faculties, institutes, schools, and vocational schools.

The main responsibility of the commission is to evaluate, implement, and continuously improve incentive mechanisms aimed at increasing research performance. It also establishes communication between the units they represent and the R&D Coordination Office and supports the development of research and development activities.

Organizational Structure of the Graduate Programs Institute

At Beykoz University, graduate education and research activities are organized under the Graduate Programs Institute within a holistic structure. Through this structure, it is aimed to establish a common vision and approach between graduate education processes and research, development, and innovation activities.

This approach also aims to ensure institutional integrity in determining strategic priorities, standardization in practices, efficiency in resource utilization, and effectiveness in governance processes.

Structuring the Graduate Programs Institute under the Vice Rector responsible for Research and International Relations, rather than the Vice Rector responsible for Education, aims to strengthen the interaction between graduate education and research activities, increase alignment with internationalization goals, and ensure coordination among relevant units. In this way, graduate programs are positioned as one of the key components of the university’s research-oriented development strategy.

Organizational Structure of Application and Research Centers

Application and Research Centers are established to conduct scientific research in specific thematic areas, develop practical applications, and establish sectoral collaborations. The centers operating within Beykoz University include:

  • Logistics Applications Research Center
  • Distance Education Research and Application Center
  • Lifelong Learning Research and Application Center

Erasmus and Mobility Programs Coordinatorship

The Erasmus and Mobility Programs Coordination Office has been established to support the mobility of students, academic staff, and administrative personnel in line with Beykoz University’s internationalization strategies. The Erasmus Coordination Office operates to develop the university’s international collaborations and to ensure active participation in European Union education programs.

The office is responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of activities carried out within the scope of the Erasmus+ Program.

In Türkiye, the Erasmus+ Program is administered by the Turkish National Agency, and Beykoz University carries out mobility activities within this framework in accordance with the relevant legislation, program guidelines, and program rules. The Coordination Office works in cooperation with national and international stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the program.

The activities conducted within the Coordination Office are organized under the following main areas:

  • Student Mobility for Studies
  • Student Mobility for Traineeships
  • Staff Mobility for Teaching
  • Staff Mobility for Training
  • Bilateral Agreements
  • Erasmus+ Projects

In parallel with the increase in research and development activities, the university aims to enhance both the quality and thematic diversity of its application and research centers. In this regard, it is considered a priority to ensure that research areas cover a wide spectrum and are structured to respond effectively to societal needs.
