Our graduate student in the Master’s Program in Global Politics and International Relations at the Graduate School of Programs, and also a Taekwondo coach, Mehmet Kani Polat, has been elected as the Chair of the Athlete Committee of the World Taekwondo Federation.
The election took place in Wuxi, China, with votes from the world’s top 1,000 Taekwondo athletes representing 184 countries. Following the election, Mehmet Kani Polat will serve for four years as the representative of all Taekwondo athletes worldwide.
Receiving his certificate from Chungwon Choue, President of the World Taekwondo Federation, our student made history as the first Turkish athlete elected to this position across all disciplines and also as the youngest person to hold this role.
We congratulate our student on this international achievement and wish him continued success in both his academic career and sporting endeavors.
