The Ramadan Festival organized at Beykoz University revived the Nahıl tradition, one of the significant elements of historical festival culture, within the campus environment. Held at the Kavacık Schools of Higher Education Campus, the event was carried out in collaboration with the City and Culture Club, Interior Architecture Club, Media Club, and Gastronomy Club. During the festival, students came together in workshops and activities that reflected the spirit of sharing and unity characteristic of Ramadan.
Nahıl Tradition on Campus
One of the highlights of the event was the Nahıl Tree, prepared by the Interior Architecture Club. This traditional decoration, used during weddings and major celebrations in the Ottoman era, symbolizes abundance and festivity and was displayed at the center of the campus.
Throughout the festival, students had the opportunity to experience traditional culture through the Ebru and Prayer Bead Workshops organized by the City and Culture Club. The Turkish-Style Pickling Workshop by the Gastronomy Club demonstrated the techniques of winter preparation and preservation in a hands-on way. The Ramadan Newspaper, prepared by the Media Club, transformed the festival into a written record, while the Wish Tree Corner by the Interior Architecture Club served as a symbolic space where students could share their wishes and intentions.
Throughout the day, students enjoyed the cultural atmosphere of Ramadan together, accompanied by traditional music and workshops set up across the campus.
