PROGRAM VISION AND PURPOSE

Our Clinical Psychology Master's Programs seeks to train Clinical Psychologists who have acquired theoretical and clinical knowledge based on scientific foundations and gained experience under supervision in clinical practice, working with the mission of reducing the psychological distress of individuals and improving their quality of life. Our programs are based on the Clinical Science Model in education and practice. This model ensures that scientific evidence-based clinical practices are adopted in clinical assessment and therapy practices. Accordingly, mental health professionals should prefer theoretical, measurement and therapy approaches that have been shown to be valid and effective by scientific research in the assessment, conceptualization and treatment of psychological problems. In line with this scientific perspective, our Clinical Psychology Master's Programs offer theoretical training and supervision within the framework of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (CBT), which are recommended by international clinical practice guidelines for psychological problems. Clinical psychologists who complete the program will serve the society within the framework of professional ethics as experts who can conduct effective clinical interviews and psychotherapy practices, critically evaluate scientific literature and conduct research.

THEORETICAL COURSES

In our Clinical Psychology Master's Programs, students who take theoretical courses in the first year, receive supervision from competent therapists in the field by serving clients in our Clinical Psychology Practice Center in the second year and prepare a graduation project / master's thesis. Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies I and II, Research Methods in Clinical Psychology, Advanced Psychopathology, Seminar, Statistics in Clinical Psychology are compulsory courses while Addiction, Psychosomatic Disorders, Clinical Observation and Interviewing, Psychopharmacology, Clinical Forensic Psychology, Brain and Behaviour remain elective courses.

SUPERVISION

Students who successfully complete the conditional courses in the first year of our Clinical Psychology Master's Programs gain professional competence and experience by seeing clients under supervision. The aim of supervision is to ensure that clients seeking help for their psychological problems receive psychotherapy through the right practice and to increase the competence of clinical psychologist candidates by strengthening their knowledge and skills. In our programs, competent therapists carry out the supervision process in order to provide the highest benefit for the client. Within the scope of our programs, the supervision process consists of groups of 4-5 clinical psychologist candidates. Candidates meet their supervisors once a week and present detailed information about the content of the interviews conducted that week and receive feedback and suggestions from their supervisors. This entire process takes place within the framework of a supervision specifically designed for our programs.
